Be constructive and gracious
By being constructive, gracious and building empathy you will achieve more success, though it can take a bit longer.
- Build allies, so that even those who disagree with you or will/can not act, will seek to help you when they can.
- Build empathy, rather than division.
- Forgive others mistakes and bias – we all make mistakes sometimes, and pointing out error is less likely to work than pointing out a way to improve.
- Drivers particularly don’t like when you point out when they’re breaking the law. The only way to really get through is with subtlety or humour – straight out confrontation only seems to make people, all of us, more resolute.
